Business Context and Main Purpose of the Role:

It does this by delivering excellent IT services globally so that Unilever can better serve customers, translate its global scale into local cost competitiveness and create maximum agility.

The IT operating model - which sets out key roles and responsibilities, and interfaces across IT Services and IT Innovation - has been designed to ensure that the IT function can deliver on these priorities.
The Enterprise Solutions team plays a vital role in introducing technology innovation to the business in the form of new and enhanced IT services and in delivering a portfolio of integrated global and regional IT services that enable the business to operate and grow. It performs four primary functions:
- ERP & Global Landscape Management
- Application Services
- Functional CoE & Programme Delivery
- And a number of shared services of which SAM & Supplier Management is an integral part
The Software Asset & Supplier Management team provides
- end-to-end lifecycle management of all software assets, manage software demand globally and engage with IP, Legal and other teams to drive the value and reduce costs
- drive supplier performance through robust governance, reporting
- Managing existing contracts and compliance to the terms/spend analysis
- Managing consumption of supplier services and ensure optimisation and cost avidance
The purpose of the Software Supplier Contract & Performance Manager role is to manage the software suppliers; define and deploy vendor governance frameworks; identify and review opportunities to save costs, and act as a problem management and resolution point with strategic software suppliers.
The Global Software Supplier Contract & Performance Manager reports to the Software Asset & Supplier Management Director.
Main Accountabilities
- Within his/her portfolio scope (as above), the Software Supplier Contract & Performance Manager has the following accountabilities:
Core Accountabilities:
- Support the SAM & Supplier Management Director in Software Supplier Management, and providing a global view of all initiatives underway
- Create and manage longer term software consumption strategy and financial plan in line with IT Strategic objectives.
- Create robust and transparent supplier performance management process in agreement with key WL4 stakeholders within IT
- Build trusted relationship with ITLT and ESLT members and act as go to person for all supplier related activities especially focusing on strategic initiaves within Innovation. Positively influence decisions to leverage better business outcome both in terms of capability and TCO.
- Drive the yearly planning process to agree KPIs, Service improvement plans and establish a framework to manage the progress through a robust governance.
- Manage software contracts & vendor compliance to terms. The financial value of such contracts is €60m per annum.
- Drive Communications and reporting; providing a global view of activities with SAP/Microsoft/Oracle.
- Suport the SAM Lead in supplier relationship management by conducting supplier reviews, tracking and managing BAU spend of approximately €50 m. Drive year on year savings against the base line as per the IT strategy
- Identify and pursue opportunities to reduce cost of ownership (TCO) of software through reviewing software usage, software strategy and challenge stakeholders for better and more effective models
- Engage with IP to deliver contract negotiations/restructuring of contracts for better service and financial value
- Provide briefings for Unilever execs inside and outside IT on state of play with Strategic software suppliers like SAP, Microsoft, Oracle (at global or regional level) and their strategic focus in the IT marketplace.
- Ensure appropriate Unilever participation in key supplier councils and public events
- Maintain knowledge base of supplier information – contacts, products, contracts, licensing requirements, events, activities, ecosystem partnership changes etc.
- Provide escalation and resolution point for problem management with Strategic Software Suppliers like SAP, Microsoft (incidents being handled within global services towers)
- Facilitate interactions between suppliers

Critical success Factors for the Role:
KPIs / Relevant Experience:
- Establishing & maintaining Win-Win relationships with the Strategic Vendors
- Drive great stakeholder satisfaction with proactive and value generating engagement
- Ensure “Joint Business Plans” in place for all key software partners
- Accurate BAU software forecasts (€50 m) in line with long term software spend plan
- Achievement of Aggregate Performance by Suppliers against targets set in the Contracts
- Strong engagement with other ES service lines & IT BP teams
- Effective management of contractual escalations with the vendors
- Ensure that the Service provided is Value for Money by Benchmarking against industry standards
Actual KPIs will be set for the role-holders annual objectives/3+1-
Essential:
- Educated to bachelor degree level or equivalent
- Brilliant track record of building 1-2-1 trusted relationships with CXO level stakeholders and influencing for positive outcomes
- At least 10 years of experience in a truly global role working with a globally dispersed set of stakeholders and team members to deliver outstanding results
- Proven examples of negotiating multimillion deals with suppliers and delivery of savings
- Demonstrable drive for excellence in end result under stressful situations and tight timelines
- Proficient in financial models and business case analysis
- Extensive experience in Unilever or at least one other global organisation with similar industry, software asset management, and supplier/client relationship management focus
- Has extensive practical knowledge of the principles of quality management together with an understanding of the applicability of such principles to operation of information systems
- Aware of the latest trends in software assets and able to leverage that information to drive softwate asset strategy for Unilever
- Has sound commercial, organisational, time management, negotiation and staff management skills.
- Displays good inter-personal skills at all levels of contact and in a wide variety of situations
- Has the experience and cultural awareness required to work effectively with a global team.
Desirable:
- Possesses a good understanding of the business and commercial context of Unilever and good awareness of mercantile and contract law as this applies to the provision of software assets
