Job: DIRECTOR, PUBLIC POLICY & GOVERNMENT RELATIONS, Jabalpur in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh

Company is a Series D venture-funded startup headquartered in San Francisco, California. We’re a game-changing company, altering the transportation space by allowing users to request quality, on-demand rides with a touch of their smartphone. We are in over 250+ cities worldwide, including over 30+ cities in APAC, with plans to rapidly expand our growth in the region. This position is based in New Delhi.
Urban transportation has looked the same for a long time—a really long time—and we believe that with innovation and entrepreneurship, Uber can make meaningful changes to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of transportation. Our Public Policy team is expanding its front lines and were looking for a positive, competitive mover to join their efforts.
WHAT YOULL DO
Manage and lead a regional public policy team, developing strategies and structures for keeping markets open, and opening new ones.
Analyze existing and proposed laws and regulations for impact on Uber or our transportation partners.
Design regulatory and legislative proposals in support of those strategies.
Directly engage policymakers, their staffs and third parties to educate them about Ubers business model and vision.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
● Hustle Hustle Hustle– The Policy team moves fast. We’re looking for someone who is independent and adaptable as we work in and move to new places. The right candidate makes friends fast, figures out their opposition faster, and is comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
● An Articulate Wonk — We’re helping develop the regulatory framework for the next generation of transportation services. You need to be comfortable with complex legal issues and wading through regulatory jargon. You will need to be able to articulate our stance in a plain, spoken manner to a wide variety of audiences at a moment’s notice.
● Attitude – We work really hard and we’re having a blast doing it. This team believes that what we’re doing will change the world for the better – and we want motivated, highly-communicative teammates to help us with that goal.
● Position will be based in Delhi and requires significant travel. Competitive candidates likely have at least 15 years of experience in a shoe-leather public policy role and/or at least 7 years of government relations experience including directly engaging policy makers and/or regulators. But the length of your resume is significantly less important than the other qualities were looking for (e.g., hustle, wonk, and attitude)
